Generally the training course for the forklift license is structured on the following theoretical and practical modules, with pre-established content and duration (more information in Annex VI of the 2012 State Regions Agreement):
– Legal form: lasts 1 hour and contains general information on the regulations relating to hygiene, safety and operator responsibility;
– Technical module: lasts 7 hours and contains more specific study subjects such as mechanical components, command and safety devices. And all the rules to follow before using the equipment;
– Practical module: lasts 4 hours and consists of practical exercises on a specific forklift, including placing it on the road, planning the route, putting the forklift to rest and emergency maneuvers. There is also an 8-hour practical module that allows you to practice on different types of forklifts.
The training courses can have a maximum of 24 participants for the theoretical part (during the Covid emergency, lessons can also be held at a distance as well as in the classroom). And 6 for the practical test, each with an instructor and a forklift.
At the end of the course, a certificate is issued which certifies that the candidate has successfully attended at least 90% of the lessons, passing the written and practical tests required. Attention: with only the certificate of training you can drive forklifts only in private areas. To drive them on public roads, even if for short distances, it is also necessary to have a driving license B or C (depending on the transported mass).
Forklift LICENSE: DURATION AND RENEWAL:
The forklift license has a duration of 5 years and needs to be renewed before it expires. Upon verification of participation in a 4-hour refresher course, of which at least 3 hours relating to the topics of the practical modules. The training body is required to keep the course file for 10 years which contains the participant’s personal data, the certificate of suitability and the course register.
COST OF LICENSE Forklift:
The cost of a forklift license varies according to the type of specialization (i.e. the type of forklift for which the license is requested, for self-propelled ones it costs less) and can range from 120 to 200 euros, but these are purely indicative figures. . Refresher courses for renewal every 5 years cost approximately half. Usually the courses for employees are paid for by the company they work for, unless otherwise stipulated during the contract phase. It should be noted that some organizations periodically organize free courses for citizens seeking employment.
