Root Canal Treatment in Lahore

There are a variety of reasons why people experience pain after having Root Canal Treatment in Lahore. To improve therapy outcomes, researchers Scott Forum and Omar Ikram are investigating how to detect and treat tooth pain as soon as it occurs.

In most cases, endodontic therapy relieves pain immediately after the procedure. The time required for complete healing following endodontic therapy varies depending on the extent of the periapical lesion, the presence of pulp necrosis, and the medical history of the patient. 3–6% of people experience initial discomfort after having Root Canal Treatment in Lahore, but this usually subsides within a week of the procedure being completed.

This is a common question they ask. According to one meta-analysis, 5% of patients experience pain that lasts for six months or more after a root canal operation.

Because pain can be multifactorial and nonodontogenic in nature, it is vital to identify and examine the likely etiology of the pain that is experienced. It has been demonstrated that early detection and management of pain improves therapeutic outcomes.

This article discusses the top five reasons of post-root canal tooth pain, and how to avoid them.

Occlusion

Because the pulp is removed during root canal therapy, inflammation of the periodontal ligament can occur. Because of this, root canal treatment has no effect on the periodontal ligament. Periodontal ligament fibres that have been damaged can transmit tooth-like stresses to the bone. It is possible that adjusting the treated tooth will be a simple solution.

Endodontic

When a tooth has several roots, it is common to have multiple canal systems. Canals that are difficult to locate or that have hardened may be missed, resulting in the preservation of pulp tissue. Additionally, root canal therapy may miss accessory canals, resulting in post-treatment discomfort. 4 Perforations in the root and furcation canals, Root Canal Treatment in Lahore, filling material extrusion, and broken equipment in the canal system are all possible causes of pain after a root canal. It may be necessary to consult with an endodontist in order to diagnose these problems.

Fracture

In many cases, root fracture is the source of post-root canal pain, and it is difficult to diagnose (figure 1).

For someone who is just starting out

Vertical fractures continue to be difficult to detect, despite advancements in imaging and microscope technology. Periodontal pockets have formed around the broken teeth, and there has been a history of severe pain that has progressed to mild throbbing discomfort when chewing or palpating. The lower second molar (the tooth that is most likely to fracture), extensive amalgam restorations, thermal injury, psychological stress, and teeth that have had erosion, abrasion, and/or abfraction are all common variables that contribute to tooth fracture. After a fracture, tooth extractions might be performed to alleviate pain (figure 2).

Periodontal

A painful periodontium can be a source of discomfort, particularly if there is a concurrent periodontal and endodontic lesion (figure 3). Following root canal therapy, a thorough examination of the tooth’s hard and soft tissues should be carried out. Tooth inflammation can be caused by hard-tissue anomalies such as intrabony defects and furcation involvement, among other things. Root surfaces can be damaged as a result of soft-tissue recession.

This results in increased sensitivity and pain in the mouth. Food impaction can result in dental pain, especially if the tooth is temporised, as well as other symptoms. The use of a rubber dam clamp during the root canal procedure may result in gingival irritation, which can be addressed with mouth rinses or prescription medications. Periodontal pain may necessitate a referral to a periodontist.

Nonodontogenic

If the source of the pain is not related to the tooth, it is possible to experience persistent discomfort following root canal therapy. Tooth discomfort that is not caused by a dental problem accounts for 3–5 percent of all tooth discomfort. 6 Tooth discomfort can be caused by a variety of conditions including TMD, maxillary sinusitis, neoplasms, and nonodontogenic cystic lesions. Swelling, trigeminal neuralgia, idiopathic periodontal/odontalgia, and phantom Dentist in Lahore pain are some of the psychological causes of tooth pain. 8 This page does not cover any of the other non-odontogenic reasons of tooth pain, which should be discussed with a dentist or medical professional.
